A 16-year-old student from Derby College is taking an important step into the construction industry after securing a T-Level work placement with Casamia.

Ethan Bradshaw has joined the company as part of his studies and will spend each Friday gaining hands-on experience at The Firs site in Allestree. During his placement, Ethan will shadow Contracts Manager Neil Smith, offering him valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a live construction project.

The opportunity is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience, allowing Ethan to develop practical skills and a deeper understanding of the industry. By working alongside experienced professionals, he will gain exposure to project management, site coordination, and the challenges involved in delivering construction projects.

Dan Taylor, Construction Director at Casamia, highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in supporting the next generation of industry professionals.

“We are passionate about supporting young talent and giving students the opportunity to experience the realities of working in construction,” he said. “T-Level placements like Ethan’s are incredibly important as they provide hands-on learning that simply can’t be replicated in the classroom. It’s a chance for students to build confidence, develop practical skills, and understand the wide range of career opportunities available within our industry.”

Ethan’s placement reflects Casamia’s ongoing commitment to investing in future talent and strengthening links with local education providers. By opening its doors to students, the company aims to inspire and nurture the next generation of construction professionals.

As Ethan begins his journey at The Firs, both he and the team at Casamia are looking forward to a productive and rewarding experience.
